Anguish is unique to each person. No one can fully understand another’s pain, and it’s not helpful to tell someone there are others suffering more. However, it is comforting to know that those who have endured far greater pain have found ways to cope, and that gives you hope that you can manage yours as well. This book is not about what you need to do to attain bliss and be in a constant state of happiness. Continue reading

Behave by Robert M. Sapolsky

This is not a book you can casually read before bed—at least not for me. It’s filled with a wealth of information on neuroscience, psychology, studies conducted, papers published, and more. It was very interesting, and I learned so much from it. It took me a while to read, as I had many interruptions, which meant I had to go back and reread several chapters. I did not know what to expect from this book, and once again, without reading into the reviews, I went ahead and purchased it. It was not what I expected it to be, but I liked it very much. I thought it was a behavioral psychology book. It does dwell into human behavior and psychology, but presents it differently and brilliantly. This is a book about communication and miscommunication. The book discusses why and how information can get misinterpreted and misunderstood. Continue reading

Originals by Adam Grant

Adam Grant’s books are not your typical self-help guides. I’m often turned off by authors who insist on prescribing perfect habits and practices to become great, awesome, or the best. When I picked up “Originals,” I initially expected it to be another one of those “do this to get that” books. I had made a decision in 2021, to be more open-minded about selfhelp books and not be overly judgmental. I’ve come to realize that there’s always something to learn or rediscover in any book.
