Behave by Robert M. Sapolsky

This is not a book you can casually read before bed—at least not for me. It’s filled with a wealth of information on neuroscience, psychology, studies conducted, papers published, and more. It was very interesting, and I learned so much from it. It took me a while to read, as I had many interruptions, which meant I had to go back and reread several chapters. The book is about why we behave the way we do—what makes us congenial, aggressive, possessive, or averse. Continue reading

Our body and all that goes into making us who we are—how we move around, how we interact, how we think and react, how we convert what we inhale or ingest, and how we go on to reproduce—is a marvelous piece of engineering, art, and more. It is so complex and seems to all fall into place. Have you wondered who or what created our blueprint and defined how things should work? Continue reading

While Peter Attia beautifully explains how your body works and how you can prolong your life with proper monitoring, exercise, good eating habits, sleep, and mental health, Atul Gawande reminds you that no matter what you do, life has a finite end. This is a book on longevity. It explains how we can maintain fitness and health well into our 80s,90s and even later. The book focuses on tactics for prevention over cure, suggesting that conventional medicine, or Med 2.0, is less effective as it addresses diseases only after they’ve manifested, often after years of development. Therefore, the author advices focussing our attention and treatments on prevention, which he elaborates on and refers to as Med 3. Continue reading

Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

My cousin recommended this book to me, and I purchased it without any prior research. I’m thankful I did because reading it with an open mind, free from preconceptions, was a great. I liked it more than I had initially expected, and it felt as though the timing was perfect for me to engage with this book. In 2019, I rekindled my love for running and was beginning to develop a strong passion for it. Continue reading
