If reading is your sin, dive in!

Welcome to my site!

Here, you will find reviews of the books I read, along with my insights and afterthoughts — which I like to call Beyond the Pages.

I’ve always been an avid reader, but I’ve realized that only a few books stay with me in detail — where I can recall their stories, and describe how they impacted me. Many of these, were books we read in school and wrote summaries for.

So, in 2019, I decided to start writing reviews as a way to remember what I read and why I liked them. Over time, I began adding my personal insights and reflections to each review. Also writing these reviews has also helped me see how my ideas evolve and change, with each new book and new thing I learn. The more I read, the more I realize how much there still is to know. The books I have reviewed on this page are non-fictional. I don’t consider myself much of a writer, but I believe I can learn to be one, so here I begin. Through my reviews, insights, and personal stories, I hope to offer you a glimpse into how I see the world. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

Happy Reading!

Indra’s memoir is a fantastic read and there are so many aspects of her life that I can relate to which makes it even more interesting. How she has handled these situations and moved on is truly admirable. What I love about Indra Nooyi, is that she has always been true to herself. She is so passionate about what she is doing and her extraordinary determination and dedication have been truly rewarded. Continue reading

Nudge by Richard H Thaler & Cass R Sunstein

The book starts off with a condescending tone, emphasizing that society consists of Humans or Econs, and it is written to help the former—the Humans. The author takes it a step further by calling Humans as the “Homers” of society, portraying them as lacking basic common sense and the ability to reason. This provocative tone may be intentional, and if you can get past it and continue reading, the book does offer a few valuable takeaways. Continue reading

Think Again by Adam Grant

A good book to start the year 2022 with! In the last couple of months, it has become an almost impossible task to have a peaceful gathering with friends or family. The multitude of lockdowns has made it impossible to meet and even when we meet it seems like an event to dread where Vaccination and Government policy seems to be the dominant topic. What starts as a discussion often turns into a yelling match between some and leaves everybody else frustrated. Continue reading
