This book was recommended on the Freakonomics podcast. I liked the interview, so I went ahead and bought the book. Several situations in daily life leave you frustrated, and this book explains well why you felt that way. The author introduces several principles of persuasion, such as: Reciprocity: When you receive something as a gift or favor, you feel compelled or obliged to reciprocate. I definitely recommend the book for anyone feeling like they are getting nowhere in spite of doing so much. It helps you take a step back and redefine. A strong vision for how you are going to change the world is very important. Continue reading

However, it’s a complex book, and I took a long time to finish it. The studies and examples cited really get you thinking. Here are a few takeaways: The books explains that we have 2 systems of thinking. System 1 is (fast, intuitive) and System 2 (slow, deliberate). Continue reading

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

I loved the way Walter Isaacson has written this book. The biography makes you feel like you are a part of Steve Job’s experiences and life. Steve Jobs is intriguing: there is so much genius in this person and yet so much imbalanace. The books is very motivating but also disheartening. His commitment to following his ideas through to the end, his emphasis on quality, and his eye for detail amaze you. Continue reading
