My life in full by Indra Nooyi
Indra’s memoir is a fantastic read and there are so many aspects of her life that I can relate to which makes it even more interesting. How she has handled these situations and moved on is truly admirable. What I love about Indra Nooyi, is that she has always been true to herself.
She is so passionate about what she is doing and her extraordinary determination and dedication have been truly rewarded. She comes from a generation of Indian women, who were not always encouraged. She was surrounded by extremely macho men and nothing was handed to her easily. She did what she had to and made her mark. It is extremely remarkable.
I love the way the book starts, where she talks PM Manmohan Singh and President Obama both claim her to be “one of them”. When you leave India and live abroad for a long time, it can become hard to identify yourself to any one country. It is a constant battle within yourself, and I can imagine her happiness in being called “One of ours” by leaders of both countries. The book is a very personal and powerful insight into the life of a woman, who is fearless and adventurous. Her open mind and willingness to learn and improve truly inspired me. She also admits her shortcomings and her imperfections and this is what makes her so special. A must-read not just for women and girls, but also for men.
